OLD THINGS ARE NEW AGAIN

I’ve been reading Gandhi’s Health Guide It’s a collection of newsletter and magazine articles written by the man himself during his life. Some of the theories are waaay out there, some are quaint, and some are just plain correct. As a result I have been adding much more fruit to my diet, and been having good results as regards energy levels and body composition. My personal favorite snack right now is a bowl of freshly cubed mango, with sliced banana, a bit of honey, and some soy milk. Keeps me going for hours. I haven’t tried his recommendation of giving up breakfast just yet, but am actually quite tempted with trying a fast. I won’t be doing that until I get past my next black belt test, but that’s just 2 weeks away (aieeeeeeee!!) What is most interesting to me though is how little difference there is between the latest diet research of his day, and today’s. There has been a lot of advancement in the area of supplementation, but since most of those aren’t required to get FDA approval or go through thrid party testing their claims can mostly be given the same credence as Dr. Whosiswhatsis’ Enchanted Snake Oil.

Food. That’s the answer that keeps coming back as the most effective method for being healthy. Good, wholesome, healthy food.
